국가유산청 국립문화유산연구원(원장 임종덕, 이하 ‘연구원’)은 30일 오후 2시 국립문화유산연구원(대전 유성구) 분석과학관 강당에서 미국 게티연구소의 전문가를 초청하여, 「접근성과 상호운용성: 게티연구소 미술사 데이터의 변화하는 과제와 지향점(Access and Interoperability: The Evolving Stakes and Aspirations for Art Historical Data at the Getty Research Institute)」을 주제로 특별 강연을 개최한다. * 게티연구소(Getty Research Institute): 게티 신탁(J. Paul Getty Trust) 소속으로, 디지털 미술사 사업과 미술정보 데이터베이스 구축을 선도하는 기관 이번 특별 강연은 2024년 11월, 연구원과 게티연구소가 체결한 교류협력의 일환으로 마련되었다. 연구원은 2023년부터 한국 서화가와 한국 미술용어 정보를 게티 어휘 데이터베이스를 통해 국제적으로 서비스하고 있으며, 미술문화유산 정보의 국제적 확산과 디지털 기반 연구 확대를 위해 양 기관은 지속적으로 협력하고 있다. * 게티 어휘(Getty Vocabularies): 게티연구소가 운영하는 미술사 용어 관련 국제적 데이터베이스. 게티 어휘는 국제표준화기구(ISO) 등의 국제 표준을 준수하여 정보의 일관성을 유지하고 있으며, 이곳에 등록된 자료들은 세계 주요 미술관과 연구기관에서 미술정보의 구축과 검색을 위한 기준 데이터로 활용됨 강연자인 낸시 엄 부소장(Nancy Um, Associate Director)은 게티연구소의 연구 및 지식 개발(Research and Knowledge Creation) 부문을 총괄하며, 데이터베이스와 연구자 프로그램, 디지털 미술사 등 연구소의 주요 연구와 디지털 사업을 이끌고 있다. 낸시 엄 부소장은 이번 특별 강연에서 지난 40여 년간 게티연구소가 미술사 분야의 기술 발전을 선도하며 변화하는 요구에 대응해 온 사례를 소개하고, 급변하는 디지털 환경 속에서 미술사 데이터가 직면한 새로운 과제와 앞으로의 지향점을 살펴볼 예정이다. 이는 우리 문화유산 정보의 디지털화와 데이터 구축·개방, 국제화 전략을 수립하는 데 유용한 시사점을 제공할 것이다. 강연은 별도의 사전 신청 없이 누구나 무료로 참여 가능하며, 자세한 사항은 전화(☎ 042-860-9195)로 문의하면 안내받을 수 있다. 국가유산청 국립문화유산연구원은 앞으로도 세계 유수의 연구기관과의 협력을 확대하고, 한국 미술문화유산의 정보를 국제사회와 공유하기 위한 연구 기반을 지속적으로 구축해 나갈 계획이다.At 2 P.M. on July 30, the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (General Director: Lim Jong-deok; hereafter, NRICH), an affiliate of the Korea Heritage Service, will host a special lecture in the auditorium of its Analysis Science Center in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. The lecture, entitled “Access and Interoperability: The Evolving Stakes and Aspirations for Art Historical Data at the Getty Research Institute,” will be delivered by Dr. Nancy Um, a specialist from said institute.* Getty Research Institute: An institution of the J. Paul Getty Trust, it is a leading center for digital art historical projects and the development of art information databases.This special lecture is part of an exchange and cooperation agreement signed between NRICH and the Getty Research Institute in November 2024. Since 2023, NRICH has been making information on Korean art terms, Korean calligraphers, and painters available to the international community through the Getty Vocabularies databases. Drawing on their ongoing collaboration, the two institutions have been promoting the diffusion of art and cultural heritage information worldwide and expanding digital art historical research.* Getty Vocabularies: An international database related to art history terminology operated by the Getty Research Institute, it adheres to the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to ensure consistency in art information. It is being widely used by leading art museums and research institutions around the world as authoritative reference data for the construction and retrieval of art-related information.The lecturer, Dr. Nancy Um (Associate Director of the Getty Research Institute) oversees research and knowledge creation at the Getty Research Institute. She leads its major research and digital initiatives, including databases, programs for researchers, and digital art historical projects.During the special lecture, Dr. Um will highlight examples of how the Getty Research Institute has advanced technological development in the field of art history and responded to the field’s changing needs over the past four decades. She will also discuss emerging challenges for art historical data arising from the rapidly evolving digital environment and will explore its future prospects.
