(국영문 동시배포) 대한민국의 문화유산 보존기술, 아시아를 넘어 세계로

국가유산청 국립문화유산연구원(원장 임종덕)은 8월 3일부터 10월 1일까지 60일간 르완다·우즈베키스탄·부탄·에콰도르·몰디브의 문화유산 전문가 5명을 초청해 우리나라의 문화유산 보존·관리 기술과 연구 성과를 공유하는 ‘2026 국제 문화유산 보존기술 연수(이하 ‘ICPC’)’를 운영한다. * ICPC: 국제 문화유산 보존기술 연수(International Cooperation Program on Conservation) 국립문화유산연구원은 2005년부터 20년간 아시아 문화유산 보존․관리 전문가 초청연수(이하 ‘ACPCS’)를 운영하며 아시아 19개국 120명의 문화유산 전문가를 양성해 왔다. 그동안 보존과학을 시작으로 건축, 고고, 안전방재 등으로 연수 분야를 확대하며 한국의 문화유산 조사연구·보존기술을 국제사회와 공유해 왔으며, 지난해에는 ACPCS 20주년을 맞아 그 성과를 돌아보는 기념행사도 개최했다. * ACPCS: 아시아권 문화유산 보존·관리 역량강화(Asia Cooperation Program on Conservation Science) ICPC는 ACPCS의 참가자 범위를 올해부터 기존의 아시아권에서 전 세계로 확대하여 선보이는 프로그램으로, 이번 첫 ICPC에는 온라인을 통한 참가자 모집 기간(3.4.~4.17.) 동안 전 세계 31개국에서 지원해 높은 관심을 보였다. 국립문화유산연구원은 연구계획의 적합성, 연구성과 활용 가능성, 국제협력 잠재력, 면접평가 등을 종합적으로 심사해 최종 5명을 선발했다. 이번 연수에는 고고유적과 지역사회 참여에 대한 연구를 수행 중인 데이비드 은쿠스(David NKUSI, 르완다 대학교), 불교 조형물 안료 분석 연구를 진행하는 질놀라 투킨노바(Zilola Tulkinova, 우즈베키스탄 과학아카데미 미술연구소), 고대 목판 보존 분야의 연구를 진행하는 푸브 틴리(Phub Thinley, 부탄 국립도서관 및 기록관), 전통건축 보존기술 비교 연구자인 페르난도 안드레스 잠브라노 루케(Fernando Andrés Zambrano Luque, 에콰도르 국립문화유산연구원(INPC)), 기후변화에 대응하기 위한 문화유산 안전관리 방안을 연구하고 있는 모하메드 누하드(Mohamed Nuhaad, 몰디브 국립문화유산센터) 등 각국이 당면한 문화유산 보존 과제를 연구하는 5명의 전문가들이 참여한다. 이번 연수는 참가자별 전담 지도자(멘토)가 연구 전 과정을 함께하는 1:1 지도(멘토링) 방식으로 운영하여 실질적인 기술 전수와 연구를 지원할 예정이다. 또한 서울의 궁궐 등을 비롯해 경주, 익산, 부여 등 주요 문화유산 현장을 방문해 한국 문화유산의 보존과 활용 사례를 직접 체험하게 된다. * 1:1 멘토링 시스템(Mentoring System): 연수자가 계획한 개인별 연구주제에 맞춰 담당자를 멘토로 지정하여 책임있는 지도와 함께 이론과 실습을 병행하는 교육 국립문화유산연구원은 올해를 시작으로 ICPC의 참여 인원과 연수 기간을 단계적으로 확대하고, 유네스코 산하 이크롬(ICCROM)과 공동운영 중인 ‘컬렉션의 보존 및 사용(CollAsia)’ 교육과 연구원의 ‘아시아권 보존과학 현지기술교육(OTTP)’ 등 함께 운영 중인 국제연수 프로그램도 고도화할 예정이다. * 이크롬(ICCROM): 국제문화유산보존복원연구센터(International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) * CollAsia: 동남아시아 컬렉션의 보존 및 사용(Conservation and Use of Southeast Asian Collections) * OPPT: 아시아권 보존과학 현지기술교육(On-site Technical Training Program) 국가유산청 국립문화유산연구원은 앞으로도 중남미, 아프리카, 도서국 등 문화유산 보존 역량 강화가 필요한 국가들과의 협력을 지속적으로 확대하고, 공동연구와 전문가 네트워크를 구축해 K-헤리티지를 중심으로 세계유산의 보존을 선도하는 중추 기관으로서의 역할을 강화해 나갈 것이다.The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (NRICH) under the Korea Heritage Service (Director General: Lim Jong-deock) operates the 2026 International Cooperation Program on Conservation (ICPC)* for 60 days, from August 3 to October 1. The program invites five cultural heritage professionals from Rwanda, Uzbekistan, Bhutan, Ecuador, and the Maldives to share Korea’s cultural heritage conservation and management technologies and research achievements. * ICPC: International Cooperation Program on ConservationSince 2005, NRICH has operated the Asia Cooperation Program on Conservation Science (ACPCS)*, providing professional training to 120 cultural heritage experts from 19 Asian countries over the past 20 years. Beginning with conservation science, the program has gradually expanded to include architecture, archaeology, and safety and disaster prevention, sharing Korea’s expertise in cultural heritage research and conservation with the international community. Last year, NRICH also commemorated the 20th anniversary of ACPCS by holding a special event reflecting on its achievements. *ACPCS: Asia Cooperation Program on Conservation ScienceThe inaugural ICPC, introduced this year as a global expansion of ACPCS beyond its previous focus on Asia, attracted significant international interest during its online application period (March 4–April 17), receiving applications from 31 countries around the world. Following a comprehensive evaluation of research proposals relevance, potential for application of research outcomes, prospects for international cooperation, and interviews, NRICH selected five participants. Their research topics include community engagement in archaeological sites by David NKUSI, University of Rwanda (Rwanda), pigment analysis of Buddhist sculptures by Zilola Tulkinova, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan), conservation of ancient woodblocks by Phub Thinley, National Library and Archives of Bhutan (Bhutan), comparative studies on traditional architectural conservation by Fernando Andrés Zambrano Luque, Institute Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural (Ecuador), and cultural heritage safety management in response to climate change by Mohamed Nuhaad, National Cenyre for Cultural Heritage (Maldives).The program will provide a one-on-one mentoring system, in which each participant is paired with a dedicated mentor throughout the entire research process to offer practical technical guidance and support. Participants will also visit major cultural heritage sites, including Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple in Gyeongju, and the Mireuksa Temple Site in Iksan, to experience Korea’s conservation and utilization practices firsthand.* One-on-One Mentoring System: A training approach in which each participant is assigned a dedicated mentor according to the participant’s individual research topic, combining theoretical instruction with practical trainingStarting this year, NRICH plans to gradually increase both the number of participants and the duration of the ICPC program.
