Korea National University of Heritage (KNUH; President Kang Kyung-hwan), an affiliate of the Korea Heritage Service, is now accepting applications for the “2026 K-Heritage Leadership Program,” which will run every Saturday for five weeks from October 24 to November 21, 2026, held at historic heritage sites in Seoul and the KNUH campus in Buyeo. This program is part of the “K-Heritage Academy,” an educational initiative developed and operated by KNUH since 2023 for international residents who have had limited opportunities to experience Korean heritage systematically. It is a weekend educational course designed to introduce foreign professionals active in various fields in Korea to the values and aesthetics of Korean national heritage through lectures, hands-on workshops, and on-site visits.Under the theme “Korean Traditional Culture Through the Four Seasons: The Wisdom and Grace of Forebears, Found in Nature,” participants will explore the wisdom of Korea’s forebears who harmoniously integrated seasonal cycles and climate into their living spaces and daily lives, guided by KNUH faculty and intangible heritage artisans. Participants will engage in hands-on workshops including Najeon-chilgi (traditional mother-of-pearl lacquerware craft), traditional tea ceremony (darye) with seasonal flower teas, and traditional fan making. In addition, they will explore Changdeokgung Palace—inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List—and take part in Kimjang (kimchi making and sharing), inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, experiencing the essence and depth of Korean traditional culture woven into the turning of the seasons. Each session will include networking opportunities to encourage exchange among participants, and KNUH will continue to support active networking and collaborative opportunities through its alumni network following completion. A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants who meet the completion requirements. The program is open to foreign professionals residing in Korea working in diverse sectors such as culture, education, diplomacy, international exchange, media, industry, and the environment. Places are limited to 20 on a first-come, first-served basis (registration may close early once capacity is reached; participation fee is 250,000 KRW). The application deadline is Friday, October 16, 2026. Detailed schedules, venues, and application instructions are available on the attached promotional poster and on the KNUH K-Heritage International Center website (https://k-heritage.knuh.ac.kr/).Korea National University of Heritage will continue to strengthen and develop the K-Heritage Academy to foster global empathy and understanding of Korean culture and national heritage, while further broadening the foundations of international cultural exchange.
