(국영문 동시배포) 국립문화유산연구원, 튀르키예에서 4일간 ‘퀼테페 국제회의'(7.31.~8.3.) 성공적 개최

국가유산청 국립문화유산연구원(원장 임종덕)은 튀르키예 문화관광부, 앙카라대학교와 함께 지난 7월 31일부터 8월 3일까지 튀르키예 카이세리의 퀼테페 유적 일원에서 ‘퀼테페와 주변 지역에서의 식품 생산과 소비’를 주제로 「제7회 퀼테페 국제회의(The 7th Kültepe International Meeting)」를 공동 개최했다. * 퀼테페 유적: 기원전 3천 년경부터 로마시대까지 번성하였던 고대 도시 유적으로, 히타이트 제국 이전 카네시(네샤)왕국의 수도였으며, 히타이트 문화의 발상지로 알려져 있음. ‘퀼테페-카네시 유적’이라고도 불림. 이번 국제회의는 퀼테페 유적을 중심으로 고고학·문헌학·식물고고학·동물고고학 등 다학제적 연구성과를 공유하고 참여국 간 학술교류와 우호관계를 확대하기 위해 마련됐다. 한국과 튀르키예를 비롯해 미국, 독일, 프랑스, 이탈리아, 네덜란드, 일본, 브라질, 오스트리아, 호주 등 11개국 31개 기관 및 대학의 연구자들이 참여해 기조강연 2건과 7개 분과의 주제발표 등을 통해 총 32건의 연구성과를 발표했다. 7월 31일 열린 개막식에서는 국립문화유산연구원장의 영상 축사를 통해 한-튀르키예 공동연구의 의미와 지속적인 협력 의지를 전했다. 이어 ‘초기 중앙집권 사회의 식량 통제'(마르첼라 프란지파네(Marcella Frangipane), 로마 사피엔자대학교 교수)와 ‘고대 카네시에서는 어디서 어떻게 먹었는가'(얀 헤릿 데르크선(Jan Gerrit Dercksen), 네덜란드 레이던대학교 교수)를 주제로 한 기조강연이 진행됐다. 주제발표는 ▲ 음식 조리 ▲ 퀼테페의 최신 발견(1·2) ▲ 음식 소비 ▲ 신앙·성별·서신 ▲ 식물과 동물 ▲ 아나톨리아의 최신 발견 등 7개 분과로 구성되어, 8월 3일까지 4일간 진행됐다. 퀼테페의 오븐과 화덕, 고대 아시리아 문헌에 기록된 식문화, 의례적 소비, 식물·동물 유체를 통한 식생활 복원, 중앙 아나톨리아의 정착 양상 등 다양한 연구 성과가 소개됐다. 특히 국립문화유산연구원과 앙카라대학교 공동연구진은 8월 1일 ‘퀼테페 유적 동부 지역의 최근 발굴 성과: 헬레니즘 문화층을 중심으로’라는 주제발표를 통해 현재 진행 중인 공동발굴의 최신 성과를 국제 학계와 공유했다. 회의 기간에는 퀼테페 유적 현장 답사도 진행됐으며, 마지막 날인 8월 3일 진행된 종합토론에서는 논문집 발간과 후속 공동연구·학술교류 방안 등을 논의했다. 국가유산청 국립문화유산연구원은 이번 공동개최를 계기로 퀼테페 공동연구 성과를 국제사회에 널리 알리고, 튀르키예 문화관광부와 앙카라대학교를 비롯한 국내외 연구기관과의 인적·학술적 협력망을 확대할 계획이다. 나아가앞으로도 체계적인 공동발굴과 다학제적 연구를 통해 한국의 고고학 조사·연구 역량을 전 세계와 공유하고 문화유산 분야 협력을 지속적으로 강화해 나갈 예정이다. The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage (NRICH; Director General Lim Jong-deock), a branch institute of the Korea Heritage Service, co-hosted the 7th Kültepe International Meeting with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and Ankara University from July 31 to August 3 at and around the Kültepe archaeological site in Kayseri, Türkiye. The meeting was held under the theme “Food Production and Consumption at Kültepe and Its Surroundings.”The meeting was organized to share multidisciplinary research findings on Kültepe in archaeology, philology, archaeobotany, zooarchaeology and related fields, and to strengthen academic exchange and friendship among the participating countries. Researchers from 31 institutions and universities in 11 countries—the Republic of Korea, Türkiye, the United States, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Brazil, Austria and Australia—presented a total of 32 research papers, including two keynote lectures and thematic presentations across seven sessions.At the opening ceremony, Director General Lim Jong-deock delivered congratulatory remarks by video, highlighting the significance of Korea-Türkiye joint research and reaffirming NRICH’s commitment to continued cooperation. The ceremony was followed by two keynote lectures: “Food Control in Early Centralized Societies” by Marcella Frangipane, Professor at Sapienza University of Rome, and “Where and How Did People Eat in Ancient Kanesh” by Jan Gerrit Dercksen, Professor at Leiden University in the Netherlands.The seven sessions covered ▲ Food Preparation ▲ Recent Discoveries at Kültepe I ▲ Recent Discoveries at Kültepe II ▲ Food Consumption ▲ Religion, Gender and Letters ▲ Plants and Animals ▲ Recent Discoveries in Anatolia. Presentations introduced a wide range of research, including ovens and hearths at Kültepe, food culture recorded in Old Assyrian texts, ritual consumption, the reconstruction of ancient diets through plant and animal remains, and settlement patterns in Central Anatolia.In particular, on August 1, a joint research team from NRICH and Ankara University presented “Recent Excavation Results from the Eastern Area of Kültepe: Focusing on the Hellenistic Cultural Layer,” sharing the latest findings from the ongoing joint excavation with the international academic community. Participants also took part in field visits to the Kültepe mound and lower town. During the concluding discussion on the final day, they explored the publication of conference proceedings and future cooperation in joint research and academic exchange.Building on the successful co-hosting of the meeting, NRICH plans to raise international awareness of the results of its joint research at Kültepe and expand its professional and academic networks with domestic and international institutions, including the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye and Ankara University.
